Chairman: The Rt Hon The Lord Sterling of Plaistow, GCVO CBE

Lord Sterling

Jeffrey Sterling joined the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company's Board as a non-executive Director in 1980, became Executive Deputy Chairman and then Executive Chairman of P&O three years later, standing down in May 2005. He was Chairman of P&O Princess Cruises plc 2000 to 2003.

Prior to his involvement in P&O, Lord Sterling founded Sterling Guarantee Trust and was a Special Adviser to successive Secretaries of State for Trade and Industry. He is the joint founder and current Chairman of Motability, a charity that provides cars for people with disabilities and currently has more than 400,000 vehicles on the road. Lord Sterling is also an Honorary Commodore in the Royal Naval Reserve.

C. Richard Carlson

C. Richard Carlson Mr. C. Richard Carlson was appointed as a Director of the American Fund of the National Maritime Museum and Royal Observatory, Greenwich in 2003 and became a Patron of the organization in 2006.

He is a Senior Vice President of UBS Financial Services, a position he has held since 1973. He is a Financial Advisor to both individuals and institutions participating on many Investment Committees.

His many outside interests include Trustee of the Brewster Academy, Trustee and former Chairman of the Board Perkins School for the Blind, Trustee of the North Shore YMCA, Treasurer of Travelers Aid Family Services and formerly a Director of Fiduciary Trust of Boston.

He lives in Rockport, MA with his wife Deborah W. Carlson. They have two sons (David and Daniel) and five grandchildren. Swimming, skiing and traveling with family and friends are among his greatest pleasures.

Dr Kevin Fewster AM FRSA

Kevin Fewster

Dr Kevin Fewster was appointed Director of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich in September 2007.   

Prior to taking up this appointment Dr Fewster was the Director of several museums in Australia. Between 2000 and 2007 he led the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney. From 1989 to 1999 he was the inaugural Director of the Australian National Maritime Museum, Sydney, and from 1984-89 was the inaugural Director of the South Australian Maritime Museum, Port Adelaide. In 1988 he was awarded a fellowship which allowed him to spend a summer working at Mystic Seaport Museum, Connecticut, USA.

From 1996 to 1999 Dr Fewster was the President of the International Congress of Maritime Museums.

Dr Fewster was made a Member of the Order of Australia in June 2001 for service to museum administration, and to the preservation of maritime history.

Dr Fewster is married and has one daughter.
